G.654.E has a larger effective area than G.652.D, which lowers non-linear impairment on high-capacity coherent transmission links. It is the fiber of choice for terrestrial 400G / 800G backbone links and terrestrial extensions of submarine networks. Tensile strength is 60 N paerewa.
