These connectors, similar to aviation connectors, offer fast and reliable connections. They are often required to meet IP67 sealing standards and can withstand high pulling forces, typically exceeding 200N.

In contrast, conventional drop cables inserted into distribution boxes have a pulling force limit of only 100N.

Option 1: Power Up with the X Box 48-Core Configuration

In this setup, an X Box boasting 48 fiber cores serves as the primary fiber distribution point.

Two hubs connect to the X Box, each furnished with four 12-core MOP (Mechanical Optical Fiber Connector) interfaces.

These MOP interfaces then reach out to individual households.

Option 2: Leverage the Versatility of the Sub Box-1 Configuration

This configuration deploys four Sub Box-1 units, each offering 12 fiber ports.

Every Sub Box-1 connects directly to the fiber terminations at households, ensuring a streamlined distribution.

Here, eight 1X9 modules come into play, each containing four fiber ports.

We set up four Sub Box-2 units, each equipped with four fiber ports.

X Box: Your Outdoor Pre-Connected Connector Box with Branch Cable Output

1. pre-terminated splice closure x box

X Box is essentially an optical cable connector box that branches the main optical cable through optical fiber fusion.

Unlike conventional connector boxes, the branch optical cable does not output directly.

The X Box uses a specialized port that can install MPOs and typically outputs a 12-core MPO.

Whether it mimics the shape of a cap-style connector box or adopts a box structure, its unique feature is the absence of flange connectors.

It’s usually installed at the front end of FTTH (closer to the equipment room side).

As for installation, the X Box usually adopts wall-mounted and pole-mounted methods. Given its outdoor setting, it’s designed to meet an IP68 protection level.

The optical cable input diameter ranges from 12-18mm. With 8 installed 12-core fusion trays, it can fuse up to 96 cores.

2. Hub Box

The Hub Box-1 fiber splitter box mainly functions to deploy the continuation point of optical cables.

It typically incorporates four MPO pre-terminated flange nodes, each with 12 cores.

The box end has four LC 12-core flange boxes for connecting, and the output end connects through a 12-core MPO tail fiber.

Fiber configuration is controlled by the insertion position and status of the tail fiber.

The Hub Box-2, on the other hand, follows a single-core 12-core input and output model. This model can also accommodate optical splitters with an MPO plug input.

Sub Box: Pre-Connected Fiber Splitter Box with Asymmetric Splitter

Sub Box

Sub Box is essentially a pre-terminated box with an added splitter.

It can connect to a 1X9 asymmetric splitter, a 1X2 asymmetric splitter or a 1X8 splitter.

The most commonly used is a 1×9 asymmetric splitter, which has a unique light-splitting ratio. Typically 70:30 (also have 10:90 ver.).

This generally means a single optical fiber input, with one connector outputting 70% (For special use) and the other eight connectors outputting 30%.

The End Box output can generally reach your home (as FTTH). So it have one pre-connected head for matching, and regular Sc tail fiber heads for other ends, usually with nine flanges.

Pre-connector solutions in the field of optical communication can be quite appealing. However, due to major manufacturers offering their exclusive solutions, these options are often expensive.

Therefore, we can also consider the following simplified solutions. The Key principle of pre-terminated box solution is that: Connectors are made outside, after preliminary fiber fusion, there’s usually no need to open the box case when continuing. 

The beauty of pre-connect solutions is that they can utilize standard market SC, LC, MPO connectors (flanges).

As long as they offer some level of protection, they’re capable of meeting everyday requirements.

Generally, there are two popular approaches:

1. Quick-Plug Connectors
These connectors are designed to match Huawei’s pre-connected flanges. However, their usage isn’t widespread. They demand a higher requirement for quick-plugging and involve a more substantial set of components. Yet, the advantage is that they can use standard figure-eight cables.

2. Simplified Pre-Connect Plugs and Connectors
These products are designed with simplicity in mind. Their unique selling point lies in their compatibility with the installation location of Huawei’s pre-connected sockets. They primarily use the standard SC earless flange and can also install LC duplex flanges and MPO sockets. This covers the basic range of Huawei’s pre-connected sockets.
