OM4 / OM5 multimode is the current mainstream for 400G / 800G SR8 links; single-mode covers longer reach and DR4 architectures.

Best for static routing with occasional bending — not recommended for high-frequency repeated flexing. For buried installations, an additional protective conduit is recommended to prevent long-term corrosion.
