Product Details

An armored pigtail is a fiber optic cable with a connector on one end and an open end on the other, which can splice to another cable’s fiber core.

These pigtails are often found in fiber terminal boxes, connecting optical cables to transceivers. They come in two types: single-mode and multimode.

  • Single-Mode Pigtail: Typically yellow, with wavelengths of 1310nm and 1550nm, supporting transmission distances of 10km and 40km, respectively.
  • Multimode Pigtail: Typically orange, with a wavelength of 850nm, supporting a transmission distance of 500m, mainly used for short-distance connections.

The armored pigtail features a stainless steel tube design, providing robustness and durability. This extra layer of protection enhances network reliability and prevents damage from rodents, construction activities, and other potential hazards.

Key Features

  1. Metal Armor: Offers protection against rodent bites and physical damage.
  2. LSZH Material: Low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) material ensures safety in case of fire.
  3. High Tensile Strength: Branching tensile strength up to 120N.
  4. Telecom Standards Compliance: Meets standard telecom insertion loss (IL ≤ 0.3dB) and return loss (RL ≥ 50dB) requirements.

Applications

Armored pigtails are ideal for environments requiring robust and reliable fiber optic connections. They are suitable for:

  • Fiber Termination Boxes: Connecting optical cables to fiber transceivers in terminal boxes.
  • Harsh Environments: Providing extra protection in areas prone to physical damage and rodent activity.
  • Telecom and Data Centers: Ensuring reliable connections in high-performance networks.
  • Short and Long-Distance Connections: Suitable for both short-distance interconnections and long-distance transmissions.
